Dominique Bordenave
Born in France in 1960, Dominique grew up successively in France, Iran and the United States. He later spent extended period of time in Southeast Asia.
In 1981, he enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Paris and devoted himself to painting and mixed media arts
Simultaneously, he began to research the process of the folding. He applied this process to diverse materials such as paper, metal and mesh
Between 1986 and 90, he has created the "shoeface collection"- a humorous gallery of imaginary characters made from folded worn-out shoes.
Supported by CHARLES JOURDAN FOUNDATION, the "shoeface collection" was an international success exhibited in New York, London, Paris, Zurich, Lausanne, Tokyo, Toronto etc
At the same time Bordenave was sought after by major advertising agencies like Saachi, BBH, Akuhodo,JBR/Brindfors…creating the visuals for sweral international advertisement campaigns: SONY,SATO,SEYAKU,SILK CUT,OSLOBANKEN..
In the early 90's, his unique approach to volume led him to explore the emergent technologies of computer graphics and real-time 3D.
In 1995, Bordenave worked as the lead artist in the creation of the first real-time 3D video game of UBISOFT. He created and directed its graphic creation and production studio at the international level.
Under his leadership, eleven studio were set up in four years in Montreal, Shangai, Beijin, Tokyo, New York, Barcelona, Casablanca, Bucharest, Annecy and Paris) with an international team of over five hundred graphic
From 2000 - 2002, Bordenave was Worldwide Content Director of GMELOFT . In 2002, he decided to return to the world of arts. He is currently engaged in pursuing a conceptual approach to form that emphasizes the metallic canvas as its medium. The project called Void Capture, represents a new step in his evolving artistic expression.
