Stephan Marienfeld

Stephan Marienfeld, born in Hattingen, Germany in 1966, deals in his sculptural work with the human body image and its perception. His objects are of unique aesthetics and clean elegance. In “Hurrican” the artist combines an instrument of everyday use with a fantastic form to create an odd aesthetic piece of art. The contrast between natural, homogeneous forms and artificial material plays with the idea of anthropomorphic creatures, erotic tension and figural presence. Coated with polyester, painted and polished, the differences of the individual pieces disappear and become a new, hybrid form. The hyper-smooth surfaces of the sculptures shimmer under different light conditions and bring about an amazing play of light and shadow.
